Ingredients/Components

- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- butter - 1 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- sifted flour - 3 c
- raisins - 1 c
- cloves - 1 tsp
- allspice - 1 tsp
- blackberry jam - 1 c
- eggs unbeaten - 4 item
- chopped pecans* - 1 c
- Add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together, alternately with buttermilk
How to make blackberry jam cake:
Cream butter and sugar together. Add dry ingredients, which have been sifted together, alternately with buttermilk. Add eggs and beat well. Stir in blackberry jam. Blend in raisins and nuts which have been dredged in small amount of flour. Pour batter into 3 well-greased and lightly floured 8-inch square layer pans. Bake in moderate 350° oven for 30 to 40 minutes. Cool and frost.Quick Fudge Frosting:2 c. sugar1 c. milk1 c. butter Combine in saucepan sugar, milk and butter. Cook over low flame until beads form on top of mixture, stirring only until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and beat until thick enough to spread between layers and all over cake.
