Molasses crumb cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- flour - 3 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- hot water - 1 c
- baking molasses - 1 c
How to make molasses crumb cake:
Mix flour, sugar and Crisco together to form crumbs. Set aside 1 cup of crumbs for the top of the cakes. Mix molasses, hot water and baking soda together, then beat in the rest of the crumb mixture. This makes 2 (9-inch) cakes. Sprinkle 1/2 cup crumbs on top of each cake. Bake at 350° for 35 to 40 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Coffee cakes, Pennsylvania dutch.
