  • shortening
  • sugar - 2 c
  • molasses mild - 1 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • baking soda - 4 tsp
  • flour - 4 c
  • cloves - 1 tsp
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • cinnamon - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp

How to make molasses cookies:

Melt shortening and cool. Add sugar, molasses and eggs; beat well. Mix together flour, soda, cloves, ginger, cinnamon and salt. Add to first mixture; mix well and chill. Roll into 1 inch balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on greased cookie sheet 2 inches apart. Bake at 375° for 8 to 10 minutes. Makes 9 dozen.
