  • salt - 2 tsp
  • water
  • salad oil - 2 Tbsp
  • bay leaf - 1 item
  • parsley - 1/4 c
  • large onion, diced - 1 item
  • barley - 1/2 c
  • beef bouillon cubes - 2 item
  • can red kidney beans - 1 oz
  • large can tomatoes - 1 item
  • large carrots, sliced - 3 item
  • can white kidney beans - 1 oz
  • small cabbage, diced - 1 item
  • beef for stew - 2 lb
  • small white turnips, cut in thin strips - 3 item

How to make minestrone soup:

In Dutch oven over medium heat in hot oil, cook beef until well browned. Add water and next 9 ingredients. Heat to boiling. Reduce heat. Cover and simmer 1 hour or until tender. Remove bay leaf. Add beans (drained). Add parsley. Heat. Pass Parmesan cheese.
