Mexican cornbread
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- beaten eggs - 2 item
- melted shortening - 1/4 c
- grated cheese
- can cream-style corn - 1 item
- plain cornmeal - 1 c
- can chili peppers or 1 or 2 jalapenos, chopped - 1 item
How to make mexican cornbread:
Mix ingredients, except cheese and peppers. Pour 1/2 of mixture into greased iron skillet. Sprinkle 1/2 of cheese and peppers over mixture. Pour remaining mixture in skillet and top with remaining cheese and peppers. Bake at 400° for 30 to 45 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Quick breads, North american.
