Ingredients/Components

  • milk - 3/4 c
  • butter or margarine - 2 3
  • oil - 1 Tbsp
  • dash of salt - 1 item
  • crushed cornflakes - 1/4 c
  • Ritz crackers - 10 item
  • macaroni
  • Cheddar cheese - 1 lb

How to make macaroni and cheese:

In a large saucepan, boil 4 to 6 cups of water. Add 1 tablespoon of oil and dash of salt. Pour in macaroni and stir. Boil gently for 10 minutes or until done.

While macaroni is cooking, in another saucepan, melt butter. Add milk and warm. Crush Ritz crackers in your hand over milk and drop in little by little. Warm and add chunks of Cheddar cheese, reserving about 6 small pieces for baking.

Drain macaroni in strainer and put back in saucepan (do not set on turned on burner!). Add cheese sauce mixture to this and stir to mix. I like to eat it like this, but for those that prefer it baked, spray a large baking dish or coat with butter or margarine. Turn macaroni and cheese into baking dish and place remaining cheese chunks on top. Push in a little. Top with some crushed cornflakes. Bake at 350° until bubbly, about 30 minutes.
