Lemon tea bread
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1/3 c
- butter or margarine - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- baking powder
- unsifted flour - 2 c
- lemon juice
- grated lemon peel - 2 tsp
How to make lemon tea bread:
Syrup:1/4 c. lemon juice1/3 c. sugar Lightly grease a 9 x 5 x 3-inch loaf pan. Preheat oven to 350°. Sift flour with baking powder and salt; set aside. In large bowl, mix at medium speed, butter with 1 cup of sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each. At low speed, beat in flour mixture alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour; beat just until combined. Stir in nuts and lemon peel. Bake for 55 to 60 minutes.In small pan, combine lemon juice and sugar, cook 1 minute or until syrupy. Pour over bread as soon as it is removed from the oven. Cool in pan for 10 minutes. Remove; let cool completely. Yields 1 loaf.
