Layered lettuce salad
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 Tbsp
- pkg - 1 oz
- mayonnaise - 2 c
- small onion, chopped - 1 item
- hard-cooked eggs, chopped - 4 item
- celery, diced - 1 c
- Cheddar cheese, grated - 4 oz
- green peppers, diced - 1/2 c
- slices bacon, fried and crumbled optional - 8 item
- head lettuce, broken into bite sized pieces - 1 item
How to make layered lettuce salad:
Place lettuce in a 13 x 9 x 2-inch glass pan. Layer celery, eggs, peas, peppers, onion and bacon, salting each layer lightly. Mix together mayonnaise and sugar; spread over the top as you would frosting. Top with grated cheese. Chill 8 to 12 hours or overnight.
