Ingredients/Components

  • water - 2 c
  • can chicken broth - 1 item
  • small onion, diced - 1 item
  • carrots, sliced - 3/4 item
  • green pepper - 1/2 item
  • kielbasa, sliced - 1 pkg
  • cans Northern beans - 2 oz
  • to 3 stalks celery, sliced - 2 item
  • to 6 potatoes, cut as for potato salad may vary according to size - 5 item
  • head cabbage, chopped as for soup - 1/2 item
  • garlic powder, sprinkle with shaker - 1 item
  • basil, sprinkle with shaker - 1 item
  • hamburg seasoning optional - 1 item
  • chicken bouillon crystals, sprinkle - 1 item

How to make kielbasa stew:

Mix all of the ingredients, except broth, water and seasoning. Place in 5-quart pot and then add water, broth and seasonings. Cook on high for 4 to 5 hours. Check several times. May not take as long, depending on size of diced and sliced potatoes. May cook on low-medium all day if desired.

Notation: Can substitute 2 bags frozen stew vegetables for potatoes, carrots, etc. Also can substitute sausage for kielbasa. But cook before adding, so as can be sliced.
