- butter, softened - 1 c
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 4 item
- vanilla - 2 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 3 c
- butter - 1/2 c
- water - 1/4 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- rum flavoring - 1 tsp
How to make kentucky butter cake:
Butter Sauce Topping:1 c. sugar1/2 c. butter1/4 c. water1 tsp. rum flavoring Preheat oven to 325°. Sift together in large bowl and set aside flour, soda, salt and baking powder. In separate large bowl, cream butter and sugar together. Add 4 eggs, one at a time, beating well after each egg. Combine 1 cup buttermilk and vanilla. Add this to creamed mixture. Gradually add creamed ingredients to dry ingredients alternately, beginning and ending with dry ingredients. Bake 50 to 60 minutes.Butter Sauce: Combine sugar, 1/4 cup water and 1/2 cup butter in saucepan. Heat until butter melts. Add 1 teaspoon rum flavoring. Prick cake with fork. Pour sauce over cake. Sprinkle with powdered sugar when cool.
