Jubilee jumbles
Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- evaporated milk - 1/4 c
- soda - 1/2 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sifted flour
- maraschino cherries - 1 item
- light brown sugar - 1 c
- 10x sugar - 2 c
- evaporated milk not regular milk - 1 c
- chocolate bits you can substitute or add nuts, if you wish - 1 c
- Stir in the milk and vanilla
How to make jubilee jumbles:
Cream the shortening, sugar and eggs. Stir in the milk and vanilla. Sift together the dry ingredients and stir into the batter. Blend in the chocolate bits and chill at least 1 hour. Dough will be soft. Drop by rounded tablespoons 2-inches apart on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Glaze.Glaze:2 Tbsp. butter2 c. 10x sugar1/4 c. evaporated milk maraschino cherries Heat butter until golden brown. Be careful not to let the butter get too brown. It will burn very quickly.
