  • sugar - 2 c
  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • butter - 1 c
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk - 1 c
  • cloves - 1 tsp
  • jam - 1 c
  • allspice - 1 tsp
  • soda, dissolved in milk - 1 tsp

How to make jam cake:

Cream butter and sugar thoroughly. Add egg yolks and beat until smooth. Add 1 cup jam to this mixture; alternately sift in dry ingredients with buttermilk. Beat egg whites and fold into batter. Bake in two large cake pans or a tube pan in a 350° oven about 1 hour. Blackberry or strawberry jam is used by this cook.
