Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 4 c
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • nuts
  • white sugar - 1 c
  • jam
  • allspice - 1/2 tsp
  • candied cherries - 1/2 c
  • milk or buttermilk - 1 c
  • jar Paramount mincemeat with rum and brandy - 1 item
  • whole eggs, separate the whites from the yellow - 4 item

How to make jam cake:

Cream shortening, sugar and egg yellows together. Add flour, spices and milk. Fold in egg whites. Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.

Note: You may want to roll the nuts and cherries in flour before adding to the mix.
