Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 4 c
- nutmeg - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- nuts
- white sugar - 1 c
- jam
- allspice - 1/2 tsp
- candied cherries - 1/2 c
- milk or buttermilk - 1 c
- jar Paramount mincemeat with rum and brandy - 1 item
- whole eggs, separate the whites from the yellow - 4 item
How to make jam cake:
Cream shortening, sugar and egg yellows together. Add flour, spices and milk. Fold in egg whites. Bake at 300° for 1 1/2 hours.Note: You may want to roll the nuts and cherries in flour before adding to the mix.
