Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 2 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • dry red wine - 2 Tbsp
  • oregano - 1 tsp
  • basil - 2 tsp
  • can tomato paste - 1 oz
  • olive oil - 3 Tbsp
  • black pepper - 1/4 tsp
  • minced garlic - 1 Tbsp
  • bay leaves - 2 item
  • 13 oz - 1 lb
  • freshly chopped tomatoes - 1 c

How to make italian tomato sauce:

Saute the first 7 ingredients in a large kettle. When onion is clear and very soft, add remaining ingredients. Turn the heat way down. Cover and simmer at least 45 minutes, stirring occasionally. Then add 1/2 cup freshly chopped parsley.
