Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 3 Tbsp
  • eggs - 3 item
  • salt - 1 Tbsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • cooking oil - 1/4 c
  • lukewarm water - 1 c
  • warm buttermilk - 3 c

How to make hot rolls:

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Set aside. In a large bowl, add together sugar, salt and soda. Warm buttermilk by heating, but not boiling. Cool to warm. Add to sugar mixture. Add yeast. This mixture will foam so beat in 3 cups flour, eggs, and oil until smooth. Add 4 or more cups of flour, one at a time, until you have a batter you can pick up with your hands.

Place a damp cloth over dough until it rises in bulk. Place dough on floured board and work until smooth. Cut pieces into balls and place in well-greased pan. Let rise double again. Bake at 400° until golden.
