Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- all-purpose flour
- light brown sugar, packed - 2 c
- broken pecans
- cut up dates - 2 c
- candied red cherries, halved - 2 c
How to make holiday fruit drops:
Cream Crisco and sugar; add eggs, mixing well. Stir in buttermilk. Blend all dry ingredients; stir into creamed mixture. Stir in pecans, cherries and dates. Chill at least one hour. Heat oven to 400°. Drop rounded teaspoonfuls of dough about 2 inches apart on lightly greased baking sheet. Bake 8 to 10 minutes until almost no imprint remains when touched lightly.
