Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • cornstarch
  • vinegar - 1/4 c
  • butter, melted - 2 Tbsp
  • cooked, cut up beets - 2 c
  • water in which the beets were cooked - 1/4 c

How to make harvard beets:

Combine your sugar and cornstarch. Add the beet water, vinegar and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring until thick and smooth. Add the beets and cook over low heat for about 20 minutes. When ready to serve, add the butter and bring to a boil.

An 8 ounce can of pineapple tidbits may also be added.
