Hush puppies

Ingredients/Components

• flour - 1 Tbsp
• buttermilk - 1 c
• whole egg - 1 item
• chopped onion fine - 3 Tbsp
• corn meal Martha White Hot Rise * - 2 c

How to make hush puppies:

*Omit soda, baking powder and salt.

Mix all ingredients and drop by teaspoonful into hot oil or grease until golden brown and floating. Oil must sizzle when cube of bread is dropped into hot oil to be correct heat.

If using plain corn meal, add 1/2 teaspoon soda, 1 teaspoon baking powder and 1 teaspoon salt to the mix.
