Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • water - 1/2 c
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • soda - 1/2 tsp
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/3 c
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • cloves - 1/2 tsp
  • dark molasses - 1/2 c

How to make ginger creams:

Mix shortening, sugar, egg, molasses and water thoroughly. Blend in remaining ingredients. Cover; chill 1 hour. Drop dough by teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart onto greased baking sheet. Bake at 400° for 8 minutes or until almost no imprint remains when touched with finger. Makes about 4 dozen cookies.
