Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking soda - 3 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 3/4 c
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- molasses - 4 Tbsp
- ginger - 1 tsp
- cloves - 1/2 tsp
How to make ginger cookies:
In a large bowl, cream the shortening and sugar. Add the molasses, salt and egg. Blend well.In a separate bowl, sift together the dry ingredients. Blend into the creamed mixture. Shape the dough into small balls and roll in granulated sugar. Place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake in a 350° oven for 10 to 12 minutes. Makes about 6 dozen.
