German chocolate cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour
- butter - 1 c
- egg yolks - 4 item
- soda - 1 tsp
- buttermilk - 1 c
- boiling water - 1/2 c
- egg whites - 4 item
- nuts - 1 c
- stick butter - 1 item
- cake flour, sifted
- flake coconut - 1 c
- large can evaporated milk - 1 item
- German sweet chocolate
- Put aside to cool
How to make german chocolate cake:
Melt chocolate in water. Put aside to cool. Cream together butter and sugar. Add egg yolks one at a time, then add chocolate and vanilla. Sift together flour, soda and salt. Mix flour, milk and chocolate mixture together adding a little of each at a time. Fold in egg whites. Put in greased and floured cake pans. Bake at 350° for 20 minutes.Icing:1 c. sugar1 1/2 lb. flour1 large can evaporated milk1 stick butter1 c. nuts1 c. flake coconut3 egg yolks1 tsp. vanilla Mix all ingredients together in saucepan on moderate heat.
