- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- pkg
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- butter - 1/4 c
- egg yolks - 5 item
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- egg whites - 5 item
- stick butter - 1 item
- Crisco - 1/2 c
- box powdered sugar - 1 lb
- can coconut - 1 item
- pecans for garnish - 1 item
How to make italian creme cake:
Frosting:8 oz. pkg. cream cheese1/4 c. butter1 lb. box powdered sugar pecans (for garnish) Cream together butter, Crisco, sugar, egg yolks and vanilla. Add flour, soda, salt and buttermilk. Add coconut and pecans. Beat egg whites until stiff. Fold into cake batter. Bake in greased and floured 9-inch pans for 30 minutes at 350°. Cool, then frost.Combine cream cheese, butter and powdered sugar and beat until smooth. Frost cake and sprinkle top with pecans.
