Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 3 tsp
  • water - 4 c
  • green chilies, diced - 1 Tbsp
  • garlic, minced - 2 tsp
  • grits - 3 c
  • bunch scallions, sliced - 1 item
  • butter I use less - 3/4 lb
  • Cheddar cheese, grated I use less - 1 lb

How to make garlic cheese grits:

Bring water to a boil. Add grits and salt. Cook slowly for 10 to 15 minutes or until done. Add garlic, green chilies, cheese and butter. Stir until melted. Pour into greased 2-quart casserole. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes. Remove from oven and garnish with scallions (optional). Makes 10 servings.
