  • sugar - 1 Tbsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • milk - 1 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • powdered sugar - 1 item
  • unsifted all-purpose flour
  • vegetable oil for frying - 1 item

How to make funnel cakes:

In a small bowl with a wire whisk, beat eggs until frothy. Gradually beat in milk. Add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat until smooth.

In a large skillet, heat 1-inch of oil. Strain batter into pitcher. Hold a funnel with 1/2-inch opening under the lip of the pitcher and, starting in the center of the skillet, pour batter in a spiral until 1-inch from edge of pan. Fry until golden. Remove from fat with 2 large spatulas. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Makes 5 cakes.
