Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- eggs - 2 item
- milk - 1 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder - 1 tsp
- powdered sugar - 1 item
- unsifted all-purpose flour
- vegetable oil for frying - 1 item
How to make funnel cakes:
In a small bowl with a wire whisk, beat eggs until frothy. Gradually beat in milk. Add flour, sugar, baking powder and salt. Beat until smooth.In a large skillet, heat 1-inch of oil. Strain batter into pitcher. Hold a funnel with 1/2-inch opening under the lip of the pitcher and, starting in the center of the skillet, pour batter in a spiral until 1-inch from edge of pan. Fry until golden. Remove from fat with 2 large spatulas. Drain on paper towels. Serve hot with powdered sugar sprinkled on top. Makes 5 cakes.
