French oven beef stew
Ingredients/Components
- beef stewing meat - 2 lbs
- medium onions, cut in eighths - 2 item
- stalks celery, chunked - 3 item
- carrots, quartered - 4 item
- tomato or V-8 juice - 1 c
- tapioca - 1/3 c
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- pepper - 1/4 tsp
- basil - 1/2 tsp
- medium potatoes sliced 1/4-inch thick - 2 item
How to make french oven beef stew:
Combine beef, onion, celery and carrots in a 4-quart casserole. In a small bowl, combine tomato or V-8 juice, tapioca, sugar, pepper and basil. Pour over meat and veggies. Cover; bake in a preheated 300° oven for about 2 1/2 hours. Add potatoes. Cover. Cook 1 hour longer. Stir occasionally during last hour. Serves 6.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Main dish, Stew.
