English toffee
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- water - 3 Tbsp
- chocolate chips - 1 c
- corn syrup - 1 Tbsp
- butter not margarine - 1/2 c
How to make english toffee:
Place piece of foil (approximately 10-inches long) on table before starting. Melt butter in 2-quart saucepan. Stir in sugars; add syrup and water. Cook until candy thermometer reads 290°. Add 3/4 cup pecans and cook three minutes more by the clock, stirring constantly. Pour onto foil and quickly spread as thinly as possible. Sprinkle chocolate chips on top; spread when they melt. Sprinkle finely chopped pecans on top. Cool and chill, then break into bite-sized pieces.Recipe categories: Desserts, Candy, English.
