English toffee
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- butter - 1/2 lb
- water - 1/2 c
- margarine - 1/2 lb
- white syrup - 1/2 c
- 2 c - 10 oz
- melted Hershey bars and chopped nuts to cover candy - 1 item
How to make english toffee:
Using a minimum 5-quart heavy gauge pan, stir the above ingredients until the sugar and butter are melted. Allow it to come to a rolling boil and cook without stirring until it reaches the hard-crack stage. This is tricky, but is indicated by smoke coming up and the color turning much darker.
