Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 Tbsp
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • shortening - 6 Tbsp
  • all-purpose flour - 4 5
  • dry yeast - 2 pkg
  • warm milk

How to make easy yeast rolls:

Mix together in a large bowl the dry yeast, sugar, salt and warm milk. Stir until yeast dissolves. Add shortening and let stand 5 minutes. Mix in flour with a wooden spoon until dough begins to leave the sides of the bowl.

Turn onto a floured board and knead until smooth 8 to 10 minutes. Place in a greased bowl. Cover and let sit in a warm spot until doubled in volume. Punch down, shape into rolls. Brush with oil. Cover and let rise to doubled. Bake at 400° for 15 to 18 minutes. Makes 1 1/2 dozen.
