Down home crab cakes
Ingredients/Components
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- dry mustard - 1 tsp
- pepper - 1/4 1/2
- mayonnaise - 1/2 c
- minced onion - 3 Tbsp
- tartar sauce optional - 1 item
- minced green pepper - 1/3 c
- fresh breadcrumbs
- fresh lump crabmeat, drained - 1 lb
How to make down home crab cakes:
Combine mayonnaise and egg in a large bowl; mix in the next 5 ingredients. Stir in crabmeat and 1 to 1 1/4 cups breadcrumbs or enough to hold mixture together. Shape into 8 patties. Coat patties with remaining breadcrumbs. Heat butter and oil in a large heavy skillet; add crab cakes in batches and fry until lightly browned on both sides.
