Divinity fudge
Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- boiling water - 2/3 c
- corn syrup - 2/3 c
- nuts if desired - 1 item
- very stiffly beaten egg whites - 2 item
How to make divinity fudge:
Boil the first 3 ingredients to about 252° on candy thermometer or until sugar mixture forms threads when lifted from the pan. Slowly add about 1/2 of the sugar mixture to the stiffly beaten egg whites, beating constantly. Return the sugar to the heat and continue to boil for about 7 more minutes. Keep the egg mixture beating. Add the rest of the sugar mixture gradually and continue to beat. Add the vanilla. It will get stiffer. Add nuts, if desired, and immediately drop by teaspoon onto waxed paper. Allow to dry somewhat before storing. Keep in cool place, not refrigerator however.Recipe categories: Desserts, Candy, Fudge.
