Ingredients/Components
- flour - 4 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- soft butter - 3/4 c
- sugar
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- almond extract - 1/4 tsp
- powdered sugar
- egg white - 1 item
- hot water, as needed - 1 item
- raisins - 1/2 c
- boiling water - 1 item
- cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
- water
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- cider vinegar - 1/4 c
- baked 9-inch pie shell, cooled - 1 item
How to make cutout cookies:
Icing:2 c. powdered sugar1 egg white1/2 tsp. vanilla1/4 tsp. almond extract hot water, as needed1/2 c. raisins boiling water1 1/2 c. sugar3 Tbsp. cornstarch3 Tbsp. flour1 1/2 c. water3 eggs, separated2 Tbsp. butter1/4 c. cider vinegar1 baked 9-inch pie shell, cooled Cover raisins with boiling water, cool and drain. In saucepan, mix sugar, cornstarch and flour. Stir in 1 1/2 cups water. Cook, stirring, until it boils. Reduce heat and cook, stirring, for 2 minutes. Remove from heat. Slowly pour, while stirring vigorously, into beaten egg yolks, then return to saucepan. Bring to boil, while stirring, for 2 minutes. Add butter, then slowly add vinegar. Stir in raisins. Pour into shell. Make a meringue with the egg whites and sugar; spread over filling to edge. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes. Cool.Recipe categories: Desserts, Cookie and brownie, Rolled cookies.
