Curried shrimp
Ingredients/Components
- flour - 1 Tbsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
- curry powder - 2 tsp
- clove garlic - 1 item
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- plain yogurt - 1 c
- chopped parsley - 1 item
- small yellow onion - 1 item
- large uncooked shell shrimp - 12 oz
- cooked long grain rice optional - 1 item
How to make curried shrimp:
Slice onion. Finely chop garlic. In a large skillet, heat butter and oil over moderate heat. Add the onion and saute until soft, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and saute for 2 more minutes.Using paper towels, pat shrimp dry. Place the shrimp in a medium size bowl and sprinkle with flour and curry powder. Toss to coat. Add the shrimp to the skillet and cook until they begin to turn pink, stirring constantly, about 2 minutes.
Reduce heat to low and stir in yogurt. Heat until the mixture becomes bubbly, about 1 minute. Season with salt and pepper. Serve over rice, if desired, and garnish with parsley.
