Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 4 lb
- vinegar - 2 qt
- onions - 1 lb
- lime - 1/2 c
- green tomatoes or cucumbers - 6 lb
- Pickling spice to taste - 1 item
How to make crisp sweet pickles:
Slice tomatoes or cucumber and onions thin; cover with water then add lime and let stand 24 hours. Wash 4 or 5 times; add vinegar, sugar, and spices and cook until clear, about 1 hour over slow heat.
