Ingredients/Components

  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • brown sugar - 1 c
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • shortening - 1 c
  • flour, sifted
  • oatmeal - 3 c
  • white sugar - 1 c

How to make crisp oatmeal cookies:

Cream shortening and sugar. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Sift dry ingredients. Add to creamed mixture together with oats and walnuts; mix well. Chill and drop on ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350°. Yields 5 dozen.
