Ingredients/Components

  • stick margarine - 3/4 item
  • eggs, well beaten - 6 item
  • chopped onion - 1 c
  • chopped celery - 1 c
  • sage - 3 tsp
  • black pepper - 1 tsp
  • hot chicken broth - 6 c
  • cornbread crumbs - 6 c
  • biscuit or loaf bread crumbs - 6 c

How to make cornbread dressing:

Mix cornbread and loaf bread crumbs. Add sage and pepper. Set aside in a large mixing bowl. Melt margarine in saucepan over medium heat. Add celery and onion. Cook until tender. Add onion and celery mixture to bread crumbs and stir. Beat eggs and add to mixture. Mix well. Pour into a 9 x 13-inch pan and bake in preheated 350° oven for 30 minutes or until knife comes out clean when inserted in center.
