  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • flour
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • shortening - 1 c
  • stick butter - 1 item
  • lemon extract - 1 tsp
  • milk plus 1 Tbsp - 1 c

How to make cold oven cake:

Cream butter, shortening and sugar. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well. Sift dry ingredients and add to creamed mixture. Fold in vanilla, lemon extract and milk. Pour batter into a greased and floured tube pan and place in a cold oven. Turn oven onto 325° and bake for approximately 1 1/2 to 2 hours.
