Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3/4 c
- cinnamon - 2 tsp
- milk - 3/4 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- chopped nuts - 1/2 c
- flour
- brown sugar - 1/2 c
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- baking powder
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/4 c
- wheat germ - 1/2 c
How to make coffee cake:
Combine flour, sugar, salt, baking powder and wheat germ; add shortening, milk and egg. Be careful not to overbeat this batter. Mix into another bowl, brown sugar, cinnamon, flour, nuts and wheat germ. Next, cut into the dry ingredients the butter. Pour 1/2 batter into a square greased cake pan. Top with 1/2 dry mixture, then pour the other half of batter and then top with the rest of dry mixture. Bake at 325° for 25 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Coffee cakes.
