Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1 gal
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
- finely chopped onion - 1 1
- seafood seasoning - 1 Tbsp
- broth - 50 60
- diced, peeled potatoes - 3 c
- large can evaporated milk - 1 item
- carrots, finely chopped - 4 item
- finely chopped sweet pepper - 1 1
How to make clam chowder:
Chop clams. Simmer with broth, butter and vegetables until vegetables are soft. Remove from heat. Let cool to room temperature. Add seasoning. Stir in can of evaporated milk and 1 gallon milk. Heat over medium heat until hot. Stir to prevent scorching. Make paste of flour and milk. Stir into hot milk to make soup as thick as desired.Recipe categories: Soups & stews, Chowders, Clams.
