  • sugar - 3 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk
  • butter or margarine - 1/2 c
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • butter - 1/2 lb
  • cocoa - 1/2 c
  • plain flour - 3 c
  • Crisco shortening - 1/2 c

How to make chocolate pound cake:

Icing:2 c. sugar1/4 c. cocoa1/4 tsp. salt2/3 c. milk2 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. butter or margarine Cake: Cream first 4 ingredients. Add vanilla and milk alternately with sifted flour and cocoa mixture. Beat 3 to 4 minutes. Bake 1 1/2 hours at 350° in tube pan.

Icing: Bring to boil sugar, cocoa, salt, milk, vanilla and butter or margarine. Cook 5 to 6 minutes. Let cool. Spread on cake.
