Chocolate mousse cake
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 1/2 item
- buttermilk - 1 c
- shortening
- unsifted flour
- can sweetened condensed milk - 1 item
- hot water - 1 c
- large Cool Whip - 2 item
- chocolate chips, melted - 12 oz
- large chocolate pudding instant - 2 item
- can water + 1/2 can - 1 item
How to make chocolate mousse cake:
Chocolate Cake:1 c. shortening2 c. sugar1 tsp. salt1 tsp. vanilla2 eggs1 c. buttermilk1/2 cocoa1 tsp. soda1 c. hot water2 1/4 c. unsifted flour Mousse: Melt chocolate chips and then mix sweetened condensed milk in. Chill in refrigerator 10 minutes. Add water, then pudding. Let chill for about 10 minutes. Fold in whipped topping. Let chill.Chocolate Cake: In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, sugar, salt and vanilla. Add eggs and beat with mixer until mixture is very light and creamy. Add flour and buttermilk alternately and beat for 2 minutes.
In a small bowl, add cocoa and soda. Add hot water. Mix and then add to batter. Pour into 3 greased and floured pans. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Alternate cubed chocolate cake, then mousse, the cubed chocolate cake layer, then mousse.....chill.
