Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- milk - 2 c
- butter or margarine - 1/4 c
- flour - 1/2 c
- egg yolks - 4 item
- cocoa - 1/4 c
- dash of salt - 1 item
- cream of tartar - 1/2 3/4
- baked 9-inch pie shell - 1 item
- Meringue:4 to 6 egg whites
How to make chocolate cream pie:
Meringue:4 to 6 egg whites1/2 to 3/4 tsp. cream of tartar1/2 c. sugar1/2 tsp. vanilla Combine sugar, flour, cocoa and salt in saucepan; set aside. Combine egg yolks and milk; stir into sugar mixture. Add butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture thickens and boils. Remove from heat and add vanilla. Spoon into pastry shell.Beat egg whites with cream of tartar until stiff. Add sugar and vanilla. Spread over hot filling. Bake at 325° for 25 to 28 minutes.
