  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1/4 tsp
  • chopped nuts - 1/2 c
  • flour
  • soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped dates - 1 c
  • chocolate chips - 1 pkg
  • boiling water
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • white sugar - 1 c

How to make chocolate chip date cake:

Boil dates in water until soft. Remove from heat and add soda. Stir; set aside to cool. Cream shortening with sugar. Add eggs and cooled date mixture. Add flour, salt and soda. Mix well. Pour into greased 9 x 12-inch pan. Top with chocolate chips, sugar and nuts. Bake at 350° for 30 minutes.
