Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- vanilla - 1 Tbsp
- milk - 6 Tbsp
- butter - 2/3 c
- water - 1 c
- soda - 1 tsp
- cocoa - 4 Tbsp
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- plain flour - 2 c
- eggs, well beaten - 2 item
- white Karo syrup
- stick oleo - 1 item
- Mix and bring to a rolling boil the oleo, shortening, cocoa and water
How to make chocolate cake:
Mix flour and sugar. Mix and bring to a rolling boil the oleo, shortening, cocoa and water. Pour over sugar and flour; mix well. Add other ingredients, mixing well. Pour in greased sheet cake pan. Bake at 325°; do not preheat oven. Have ready: 1 cup milk and 1/2 cup sugar. Bring to a boil and pour over the cake while hot.Frosting:1 1/2 c. sugar6 Tbsp. cocoa1 1/2 Tbsp. white Karo syrup6 Tbsp. milk1 1/2 tsp. vanilla2/3 c. butter Mix and cook to soft ball stage, beat until thickens.
