Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • milk - 6 Tbsp
  • flour - 2 c
  • butter - 1 c
  • water - 1 c
  • cocoa - 1/4 c
  • buttermilk - 1/2 c
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • chopped nuts optional - 1 c
  • powdered sugar 4 c - 1 lb
  • In a saucepan, mix water, cocoa and butter together

How to make chocolate cake:

In large bowl, sift flour and sugar together. In a saucepan, mix water, cocoa and butter together. Bring to boil. Pour over sugar and flour mixture; blend. Add remaining ingredients. This cake is baked in a greased 10 x 15-inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 375° for 25 minutes.

Five minutes before cake is done, prepare icing.Icing:1/2 c. butter1/4 c. cocoa6 Tbsp. milk1 lb. powdered sugar (4 c.)1 c. chopped nuts (optional)1 tsp. vanilla Mix butter, cocoa and milk in saucepan; cook to boil. Add the powdered sugar, chopped nuts and vanilla; blend. Pour over cake while still hot.
