  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 6 Tbsp
  • coconut - 1 item
  • cocoa - 1/2 item
  • buttermilk - 2 c
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • all-purpose flour - 2 c
  • oleo
  • butter or oleo - 2 c
  • can coconut - 1 item
  • Beat butter at medium speed with a mixer; gradually add sugar until fluffy

How to make chocolate buttermilk cake:

Preheat oven to 350°; grease 3 (9 inch) cake pans. Beat butter at medium speed with a mixer; gradually add sugar until fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time; add vanilla.

In a separate bowl, sift together, flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Using low speed, beat while adding alternately, flour mixture and buttermilk to the butter mixture. Pour into pans and bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until done. Cool layers completely before icing.Buttercream Frosting:1 1/2 c. milk1/2 tsp. salt6 Tbsp. flour1 1/2 c. oleo1 tsp. vanilla1 1/2 c. sugar coconut Combine milk, salt, and flour; mix till blended. Cook over low heat until thick, stirring constantly. Cool thoroughly.

Cream oleo, sugar, and vanilla until fluffy; add to cooled flour mixture; Beat until it looks like whipped cream. Frost cake and sprinkle with coconut.
