- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- confectioners sugar
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1/2 c
- sifted cake flour
- melted chocolate - 1 sq
- strong coffee - 1 item
- Beat in eggs
- bitter chocolate, melted - 2 sq
How to make chocolate buttermilk cake:
Cream shortening and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs. Add melted chocolate. Sift flour, soda and salt. Add alternately in small quantities with buttermilk. Add vanilla. Bake in 2 (9-inch) pans at 375° for 25 to 30 minutes. Ice with Chocolate Buttercream Frosting, flavored with coffee. Decorate with shaved chocolate.Icing:1/4 lb. butter or oleo about 2 c. confectioners sugar strong coffee1 tsp. vanilla1 sq. melted chocolate Cream butter; add sugar, chocolate and vanilla.
