Ingredients/Components

  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • oil - 3 Tbsp
  • ginger - 1/4 tsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • soy sauce - 1/4 c
  • salt and pepper to taste - 1 item
  • green peppers - 2 item
  • large tomato - 1 item
  • tsp sugar - 1/2 item
  • round or flake steak - 1 1

How to make chinese pepper steak:

Slice meat diagonally into thin strips. Combine cornstarch, sugar and ginger; stir into soy sauce. Pour mixture over meat. Stir; marinate for several hours or overnight. Cut peppers into wedges. Quickly brown meat in hot oil, about half at a time; remove from pan and keep warm. Lower heat; add peppers, garlic and water. cook until peppers are tender crisp (5 minutes). Stir meat back back into pan; add tomatoes. Heat and serve. Good served over rice. Can be made in crock-pot. Also stew beef can be used instead of steak.
