Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1/2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch - 1 Tbsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • vegetable oil - 1/4 c
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • soy sauce - 1/4 c
  • black pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • celery, chopped - 1 c
  • clove garlic, crushed - 1 item
  • green onions with tops, chopped - 4 item
  • large onions, sliced - 2 item
  • bouillon - 1 c
  • large bell peppers, sliced - 3 item
  • sirloin steak 1-inch thick

How to make chinese pepper steak:

Lightly freeze steak so it will slice easily. Cut steak into thin strips. Heat oil in a large skillet (electric is fine) and add garlic, salt, ginger and pepper. Saute until garlic is golden. Add steak and brown lightly.

Remove steak and add onions and bell pepper. Cook for 3 minutes. Return beef to pan and add soy sauce, sugar, bouillon and celery. Add cornstarch to water. Add with green onions. Simmer with lid on. Serve over rice. Serves 6 to 8 persons.
