Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 tsp
  • butter - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • plain flour - 3 c
  • Crisco shortening - 1/2 c
  • sweet milk - 1 c
  • box light brown sugar - 1 item

How to make caramel pound cake:

Cream butter, shortening and brown sugar thoroughly. Gradually add sugar. Continue creaming. Add eggs, one at a time, beating thoroughly after each addition. Sift baking powder with flour; add alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla and blend well. Turn batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at 325° for 90 minutes or until cake test done. Cool in pan 15 minutes before turning out of pan.
