Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 3 c
- eggs - 6 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2/3 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- plain flour - 3 c
- Crisco shortening - 1/2 c
- sweet milk
- sticks margarine, softened - 2 item
- Crisco shortening not oil - 1/2 c
- Add salt, baking powder and cocoa; mix until well blended
How to make chocolate pound cake:
Cream margarine, shortening and sugar. Add salt, baking powder and cocoa; mix until well blended. Add flour and milk alternately. Batter will be stiff. Break eggs in separate bowl and whip good, then add to cake batter and mix good. Add vanilla and beat again. Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours. Bake in tube pan that has been greased and floured.Icing:2 c. sugar1/4 c. cocoa1/4 tsp. salt2/3 c. milk1 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. Crisco shortening Add all ingredients except vanilla and bring to a boil. Boil for 2 minutes, stirring constantly. Remove from heat. Add vanilla and stir good. Pour into mixing bowl and beat 5 minutes. Spread on cake.Recipe categories: Desserts, Chocolate, Cakes.
